Bokura no Ibasho

rating:everyone
volume:oneshot complete

Bokura no Ibasho is a oneshot about the early beginnings of a band called WaT from Teppei Koike's point of view. The illustrator of this manga is NAKAHARA Aya who you might know as the mangaka of the popular Lovely Complex.

Teppei just moved to Tokyo and is part of a talent agency. He is overwhelmed by his new classmates who also work in show business and seem so far ahead of him. A boy named Wentz Eiji who also works at the same talent agency become roomies and discover that they both love music. They make a rash decision to play out in the streets but sadly no one pays attention to them. They work harder at their confidence and guitar skills. At a camp they make a original song about how they felt when they were singing on the streets "Boku no Kimochi". Time flies by and they are all of a sudden well known and have a lot of fans.

Here is a youtube video of WaT performing Boku no Kimochi and you can see Teppei is crying. I guess he remembers what he went through to get to where he is now.

The art is very nice. Manga Teppei looks like real Teppei, I'm not sure about Wentz though. The backgrounds are really well done.

I would guess that you would have to be a WaT fan to really enjoy this manga. I'm not a WaT fan at all but Teppei's story really touched me.
